Acetonitrile Acetonitrile is mainly used as solvent, for example, as solvent for extraction of butadiene, solvent of synthetic fiber and some special coating; in petroleum industry for removal of empyreumatic oil and phenol; for extraction of fatty acid in oil prodution industry; it is intermediate of medicals and perfume; raw material for manufacturing of s-triazine nitrogenous fertilizer synergist; as denaturing agent of alcohol; also for synthesis of ethylamine, acetic acid.
